The subtitles have run out. If the film is still going, the clock has drifted ahead of it — step back and start again on a line you recognise.
Tap the line you just heard. It becomes “now”.
For files that arrive in a messaging app, where the file picker can’t reach them. Paste the whole .srt, timecodes and all.

How far out are they? Type the gap in seconds, then say which way the subtitles need to move.
